Our Leadership Team

 

Megan Crawford graduated from Virginia Tech in 2014 with a degree in hospitality and tourism management. Her hometown is Hillsville, Virginia. Some of her interests or hobbies include art, writing, music, and talking to friends.

 

Jimmy Dickmann is a graduate student at Virginia Tech, majoring in chemical engineering.  His hometown is Cary, North Carolina.  A few of his interests or hobbies include board games, computer games, and science fiction.

 

Katya Groff came to Ablaze from our sister church in Orlando, Florida. She attended college for a few years, but then decided to pursue ministry opportunities. Some of her favorite things include running, biscuits, and detailed chats about anything under the sun!

 

Katie Marie Hester is a senior at Virginia Tech, majoring in communication and minoring in hospitality and tourism/event planning. Her hometown is Salem, Virginia. Her interests or hobbies include reading fun books, ballroom dancing, and hanging out with friends.

 

Chris Lee is a senior at Virginia Tech, majoring in clinical neuroscience. His hometown is Howell, New Jersey. His interests or hobbies include comic books (specifically Superman), music, and dungeons and dragons. He is also a foodie and an Eagle Scout.

 

Petey Mainardi graduated from Virginia Tech in 2016 with degrees in computer science and art.  Petey’s hometown is Arlington, Virginia.  Video games, board games, and sports are a few of his interests or hobbies.

 

Rob Meyer is majoring in CDMA.  Rob’s hometown is Fairfax/Burke, Virginia.  A few of Rob’s interests or hobbies include board games, science, video games, hiking, marching band, and ultimate frisbee.

 

Alyssa Pierson, married to Matthew in 2014, graduated from Brookdale Community College in 2015 with a degree in arts, focused in photography.  Her hometown is Blacksburg, Virginia but is previously from Howell, New Jersey.  A few of her interests or hobbies include caring for animals, baking, and drawing.

 

Desiré Pierson graduated from Virginia Tech a very long time ago with a degree in Civil Engineering.  Since graduation, she has lived in Williamsburg, Virginia; Atlanta, Georgia, Syracuse, New York and New Jersey before returning to Blacksburg in 2011.  She is married to Tony and, they are the proud parents and pseudo parents of many.  Desiré serves as the “mom” of Ablaze, making sure everyone is fed on Friday night, doling out Vitamin C through the colder months and attempting to offer wise counsel on demand.

 

Emily Pierson graduated from Virginia Tech in 2016 with degrees in biological sciences and theatre.  Emily’s hometown is Virginia Beach, Virginia. She married Nick Pierson in the summer of 2016. Her interests or hobbies include photography, dance, yoga, Disney, snow, musicals, and skipping.

 

Matt Pierson graduated from Virginia Tech in 2014 with a degree in geography.  His hometown is Blacksburg, Virginia but is previously from Freehold, New Jersey. Matt married Alyssa Pierson in 2014. A few of his interests or hobbies include computer programming, board games, and reading.

 

Nick Pierson graduated from Virginia Tech in 2014 with a degree in marketing management.  Nick’s hometown is Blacksburg, Virginia but is previously from Freehold, New Jersey. He married Emily Pierson in the summer of 2016. A few of his interests or hobbies are video games, music, and sports.

 

Samantha Piersongraduated from New River Community College in the spring of 2017 in administration. Her hometown is Blacksburg, Virginia, but is previously from Freehold, New Jersey. A few of her interests or hobbies include painting, movies, and hanging out with friends.

 

Bryan Rock is a senior at Virginia Tech, majoring in materials science and engineering. Bryan originally comes from Richmond, Virginia, but for 3 years had the opportunity of living overseas in Singapore. He is often torn between his love of the outdoors (hiking, volleyball, and marching band) and his enjoyment of indoor activities (board games, and watching nerdy or Disney movies). His most favorite activity of all is eating (along with everything else that is culinary).

 

Nick Scott is a senior at Virginia Tech, majoring in mechanical engineering. His hometown is Warrenton, Virginia. In his spare time he enjoys all things fantasy, books, film or game.
